Our fuzzy friends

We have two fuzzy little friends that live at our house. Fergus MacDuff, a 3 year old Cairn Terror (oops, Terrier) and Marley, a 1 year old German Wirehaired Pointer. Believe it or not, Marley is the alpha dog in the mix.

Windy, Windy Weekend

I live in Troutdale, OR at the western end of the Columbia River Gorge. One of the things about living here is learning to live with wind. We have had a few days now of some very strong winds with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. Normally, I love the wind; it keeps the fog away and the smog and usually we are warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer because of the wind. But, this has gone on now for 3 or 4 days! This also means it hasn't rained and that's a good thing here in Oregon. We had so much rain in November, our backyard turned into a mud mess. Now it's just frozen mud. Last Christmas (2008) we had a wind & snow storm which took out our back fence. This past October, we had another wind storm and that took out one of our side fences. We only have one more fence to go. Thankfully, our neighbor cut down one of his big fir trees after our last wind storm, so we don't have that to worry about. I'm looking forward to longer days and warmer weather. Thankfully, our spring out here usually starts the end of February. Wahoo!
